Fashion and film are two of the main things that
interest me. I have always been interested in fashion design as a little girl.
I began sketching around the age of 9. I used to watch music videos or listen
to music and design clothing and costumes that would fit the song. I've taken
classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology for Fashion Design and hope to
get a degree in it. I think combining my love of fashion and media would really
work well together.
I hope to focus more on marketing and public
relations as a media major, preferably in the fashion industry. I enjoy
networking and communicating with others. Blogging has really helped with that because
you get to interact with other people from around the world that you would not
have done so otherwise. I love the idea of coming together because of a special
interest and knowing there is a community out there that feels the same way.
My dream is to one day create my own label and
produce my own work. As much as I know that will take a lot of work and a lot
of time I think that what I would hope to do with marketing and public
relations will help me grow.
I think fashion is part of my identity, from a
young age I was always interested in it. I was that child that changed three
times during a family party because, well I couldn't just wear one outfit, I
had to show off. Of course as I've grown older I'm not much of a show off but
its still fun to dress up.
Both my parents sew and have worked in creating
ties for men, my maternal grandmother sews as well and she would make clothes
for people in her neighborhood. My parents are very supportive of my dream to
be a fashion designer because they know it's what I have always been interested
in.
I also enjoy watching films, understanding
films and the reasons why the filmmakers make specific decisions in their work.
I watch different types of films and I'm that person who goes to the movie
theater every week to watch a new movie. Even though it is expensive I really
enjoy the experience. I also watch a lot of classic films and I'm attracted to
the styles and the clothing women wore back then.
In my work I hope to just express myself. I want
people to be able to see my feelings behind my work and to make the audience
feel a certain way. I would want to focus more on emotions and being able to
see myself in my projects.
